Jorge Cardoso, University of Madeira for IEEE Intelligent Systems, Oct. 2007

The aim of this article is to present a snapshot that can capture key trends in the Semantic Web, such as application domains, tools, systems, languages and techniques being used, and a projection on when organizations will put their full-blown systems into production.

Thorsten Liebig, Univeristy Ulm, Germany, 2006

This report provides some insights into currently available reasoning systems in order to serve as a decision help for Semantic Web application designers.

Tom Gardiner, Ian Horrocks and Dmitry Tsarkov, March 2006

Reasoning for expressive DLs implemented in state-of-the-art systems has high worst case complexity. The hope/claim is, however, that these systems perform well in ìrealisticî applications. To check the validity of this claim it is necessary to test the performance of these systems with ontologies derived from applications.

Dmitry Tsarkov, Tom Gardiner and Ian Horrocks of the University of Manchester for the 5th International Semantic Web Conference, Athens, GA, USA, November 5-9, 2006, LNCS 4273

In this paper we present a system that allows users: (a) to test and compare OWL reasoners using an extensible library of real-life ontologies; (b) to check the "correctness" of the reasoners by comparing the computed class hierarchy; (c) to compare the performance of the reasoners when performing this task; and (d) to use SQL queries to analyse and present the results in any way they see fit.
