This plug-in makes the RacerPro reasoner available in Protégé 4. The Plugin will download a current version of the reasoner software from Racer Systems' website. Racer Systems grants a free and permanent license to use this special RacerPro version (aka "RacerProTG") together with Protégé (or other OWL API/OWLlink tools).
The RacerPro reasoner will be installed automatically in a subdirectory of your Protégé 4 plugin directory. On request the reasoner is started as a separate process and will be shut down together with Protégé. Use the "Reasoner" menu to select and start up "RacerPro".

A new version of the Plugin will be announced through the Protégé update dialog: Please select the plugin entry in the dialog and read the update notices presented below. If you want to update, set the checkmark option and proceed. After download of the Plugin you'll have to restart Protégé in order to load the updated plugin.
A new version of RacerPro will always be announced through a new version of the plugin as well. Hence, you'll be prompted with the Protégé update dialog and can read the release notes of the new Plugin and get more information about the new version of RacerPro. Hence, the download of the updated plugin is necessary before the download of RacerPro can take place. After updating the Plugin and restarting Protégé the new binary version of RacerPro can be downloaded. Please make sure that you have access to the Internet and that your online connection is capable of downloading approximately 15MB in a reasonable amount of time.
On Windows please run Protégé with administrator rights (necessary for Protégé 4.2 only) to allow modification of the program folder's contents.
Only 32-bit versions of RacerPro are available for free use with the OWL API. However, in case you use a 64-bit operating system the name of the plugin directory is set to a misleading name. This is just a cosmetic glitch and has no functional relevance.
The Plugin and RacerPro has been tested with beta versions of Protégé 4.1. Future releases may be incompatible or the use may lead to unexpected results.
Even if Racer Systems doesn't offer support for free, you may submit feedback and bug reports to support@racer-systems.com.
By using this software and the RacerPro reasoner you agree to the license terms. As long as you acquired RacerPro through the Plugin and use it together with Protégé or any other OWL API tool only, the built-in license allows a permanent (i.e. not time-limited) and free use of the RacerPro software.
The software, the Protégé Plugin and the RacerPro reasoner are provided AS IS without any warranty. Racer Systems does not offer any services such as support or individual assistance for free.
Please note that the RacerPro software downloaded by the Protégé Plugin is not identical to the software you will receive as a registered licensee. Some features of the full licensed version are not included in the free license for use with the OWL API. The only distribution channel for the free license is through the download functionality built into the Plugin. Please do not distribute the RacerPro software.
