Protégé 4.1 Reasoner Plugin for RacerPro

Users of Protégé version 4.1 or newer are invited to use RacerPro 2.0 for reasoning services through the newly introduced plugin mechanism of Protégé 4. Simply check for plugins from within Protégé′s File menu and choose the RacerPro reasoner plugin from the list of available downloads.Once you have downloaded and installed the plugin it becomes available after you restarted Protégé: You′ll notice that the plugin will then download the RacerPro reasoner automatically and place it inside the plugin directory of Protégé.

Racer Systems is pleased to grant a free and unlimited license to use RacerPro together with Protégé through the Plugin. Please note that some functionality of RacerPro may not be available with this free license. However, if you are an educational or commercial licensor of RacerPro you may configure the plugin to access your existing RacerPro.

For more information about the plugin mechanism of Protégé please consult the documentation available online. We have a brief Read-Me file online and have added a chapter to the User Guide for RacerPro 2.0 which covers the team play of Protégé 4.1 and RacerPro 2.0 in detail.

As of February 2011 the Protégé Plugin for RacerPro is not yet publicly available. You may contact us if you are interested in participating the beta program.

Trial version of RacerPro

The continuous development of a complex software product such as a description logic reasoner is a time-consuming and complex endeavor. Hence, we decided to offer RacerPro as a commercial product as well: Customers who purchased a license benefit from enhanced features and optimized performance, e.g. for 64-bit hardware. So, if you are in the position to decide how a budget is spent, please consider purchasing a license for you or your department.

The trial version runs for approx. 30 days. After that period you should order a license of your choice if you want to continue using RacerPro.

Free time-limited educational license of RacerPro

If you intend to use RacerPro for fundamental research or higher education at a degree-granting, non-profit institution such as a university or school, you may download and use a fully functional but timelimited version of RacerPro Desktop license for this purpose provided we can verify the non-commercial use. Educational licenses are currently granted free of charge and will run for a semester term. After that period you will be offered a license renewal if your status of a participant at a degree-granting organization is unchanged. Alternatively, you may desire to permanently use RacerPro and may decide to purchase a license of your choice.

The "free license" is also ideal to help to investigate the product and to bridge the time the budgeting process takes. For students we will renew the license grant for an additional period. In case you want to use RacerPro for your thesis please negotiate with us and reference our product in your publication.
